Irma Caroline Oskam, the new R&D Director of BioKapital AS
New R&D director appointed
We are pleased to announce that Irma Caroline Oskam from Oslo has been appointed new R&D director of BioKapital AS. Originally from the Netherlands, she is a veterinarian with a Ph.D in animal reproduction and with experience from medical research.
For the past four years, Dr. Oskam has been heading the biobank at the in vitro fertilization (IVF) lab at Oslo University Hospital, working with cryoconservation of sperm and ovarian tissue. As a project manager and scientist she has extensive experience from national and international research projects.
Experienced reproduction scientist
Her work and research has been concerned with issues regarding reproduction and breeding in cattle, small ruminants and swine, cryoconservation of gametes and in vitro culture of cells. She brings years of experience as a large animal veterinarian to the team, and new knowledge from medical research related to IVF, cryopreservation, sperm, egg and embryos. Her main research focus has been cancer and fertility.
International network
– We are excited to get Irma on our team. With her experience she complements and strengthens the BioKapital R&D team. In addition, she brings an international network and cross-cultural understanding that is important in the international market BioKapital operates in, says CEO of Geno, Sverre Bjørnstad.
Dr. Oskam will enter her new position effective 1 August 2011.
